MBKS Mayor Calls For Stronger Coordination To Sustain Sama Jaya Industrial Park’s Growth
KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng has called for stronger coordination, clearer communication and prompt action among all stakeholders to ensure the continued growth and competitiveness of the Sama Jaya Industrial Park.
Dato Wee expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), together with the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), for organising the meeting.
He highlighted the importance of the Industrial Park Management Committee (IPMC) as a platform for addressing operational challenges, facilitating dialogue and coordinating follow-up actions among relevant agencies.
“As a key industrial park in Sarawak, how we manage Sama Jaya directly affects investor confidence. Effective coordination and timely follow-up are essential,” he said at the Sama Jaya IPMC Meeting 1/2025, held here on Monday.
He noted that Sama Jaya Industrial Park currently provides employment to more than 15,000 workers, with 99 per cent of the workforce made up of local Sarawakians, underscoring the park’s significant contribution to the state’s economy and human capital development.
In his address, Dato Wee also encouraged industrial players to make active use of the Sama Jaya IPMC WhatsApp group as a practical tool to enable faster communication and quicker responses from the relevant authorities.
He concluded by urging all parties to continue working closely together to ensure that Sama Jaya Industrial Park remains competitive, well-managed and sustainable in the long term, in line with Sarawak’s broader industrial and economic development goals.
The meeting was attended by Sarawak Electronics and Electrical Industry Association (SECA) President Chok Siong See, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MINTRED Lo Sheau Sia, as well as representatives from various government agencies and industrial players operating in the park. -UKASnews
