RM3 Million Upgrade For Serian Community Park To Reshape Townscape
SERIAN: A RM3 million upgrading project for the Serian Community Park is set to transform the town’s landscape.
Bukit Semuja Assemblyman John Ilus said the project, implemented under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), is currently in the consultant appointment phase and awaiting tender documentation before physical works can begin.
He said the redevelopment will adopt an open and flexible design concept, enabling the area to serve multiple functions including parking facilities, Ramadan bazaars, concerts and large-scale community events.
“I hope that by next year, this place will take on a new look,” he said when met after officiating the Serian District Council Ramadan Bazaar on Thursday.
Earlier, 69 stalls began operating at the Ramadan bazaar, offering a wide selection of dishes for breaking fast and providing additional income opportunities for local traders throughout the fasting month.
During the event, John presented aprons to traders as a gesture of support, encouraging them to continue delivering quality service to customers.
In a related development, the Bukit Semuja Assemblyman said a proposal to organise the Gawai Bazaar would be discussed with the Serian District Council Office, the Serian Division Resident’s Office, the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) and the Iban Remun Association.
However, the proposed date and programme details remain under consideration.
Meanwhile, he recorded his appreciation to all parties involved in ensuring the smooth organisation of the bazaar.
“We hope traders will enjoy favourable returns, and that the public, particularly residents in the surrounding areas, will continue to support this initiative in enlivening the month of Ramadan in Serian,” he added. -UKASnews
