Premix Parking Project Completed, Traffic Relief At Riam Methodist Kindergarten
MIRI: The Sarawak Government's ongoing commitment to strengthening early childhood education facilities is reflected in the implementation of the premix parking upgrade project at Riam Methodist Kindergarten which has been fully completed, thus helping to smooth traffic flow and improve student safety.
Sarawak Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the project was implemented following requests from the kindergarten and parents who face traffic congestion every day, especially during peak school hours.
According to the Senadin Assemblyman, previously parents had to wait on the narrow shoulder of the road when dropping and picking up their children, creating safety risks and traffic disruptions in the Riam area.
"Based on requests from the kindergarten and parents, we have implemented several improvement projects including the construction of new parking lots using premix, replacing fences and building upgrade works," he explained during a site visit and officiating the project here, Tuesday.
The fully completed parking lot project can accommodate up to 30 vehicles at a time, thus reducing congestion in front of the kindergarten which accommodates more than 200 students.
The project under the Riam Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) commenced on 4 July 2025 and was fully completed on 20 October 2025.
The implementation of the initiative reflects the government's concern in ensuring that the early childhood learning environment is comfortable, safe and orderly for the well-being of the local community, especially in the Senadin constituency.
