PKMM Sarawak Appreciates State Government’s Contribution Of Machinery For Local Contractors
KUCHING: The Malaysian Malay Contractors Association (PKMM) Sarawak Branch has expressed its gratitude to the Sarawak Government for the contribution of machinery and equipment intended for local contractors, particularly among the Bumiputera community, to enhance their construction project execution capabilities.
Its President, Dato’ Ismail Suut, stated that this initiative reflects the continuous commitment of the state government under the leadership of the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, in empowering the capacity and ability of local contractors to be more competitive.
“We record our highest appreciation to the Sarawak Government for the awarding of machinery and equipment to the association for the use of members in completing secured construction projects.
“This facility allows members to reduce reliance on third-party rentals, while simultaneously increasing the efficiency and quality of project implementation,” he said.
He said this to reporters after leading a courtesy call on the Sarawak Premier at the Satria Pertiwi Complex here on Monday.
Dato’ Ismail, who is also the Vice President of PKMM Malaysia, added that the courtesy call aimed not only to convey appreciation to Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari but also to strengthen the strategic relationship between the association and the state government while discussing the direction of the construction industry in Sarawak.
Furthermore, he noted that the discussions touched upon the proposal to construct the association's new building at Jalan Sultan Tengah, which is expected to be implemented in the near future, subject to state government approval.
