Village Chiefs Urged To Strictly Monitor RTP Project Implementation
SPAOH: Village chiefs have been urged to take a firm stance in monitoring contractors who fail to comply with the specifications of Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects, in order to prevent the occurrence of abandoned or underperforming projects.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas stressed that all projects must be implemented in accordance with established procedures and proper planning to ensure smooth execution and meaningful impact for the people.
According to him, appointed contractors are required to adhere strictly to the specified requirements while ensuring the highest quality of work.
In this regard, he urged Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) as well as community leaders to play an active role in monitoring project implementation at the grassroots level.
Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah emphasised that continuous monitoring is crucial to ensure that all allocated funds are fully utilised for the benefit of the community.
He said this during the handover ceremony of the Bukit Saban constituency RTP 2026 projects at the Spaoh Sub-District Office on Thursday.
During the ceremony, 32 RTP projects for 2026, involving an allocation of RM5 million, were handed over to 32 recipients comprising community leaders and village chiefs (KMKKs) in the Bukit Saban constituency.
In addition, several development initiatives are in the pipeline, including the upgrading of the Spaoh Health Clinic worth RM35 million, the commencement of Giatmara Spaoh operations in July, as well as the development of agricultural areas in Tanjung Sebekut, which is expected to stimulate the local economy. -UKASnews
