PMG Poised To Become Malaysia’s Largest Integrated Medical Network
SIBU: The Sarawak-based healthcare chain, PMG Healthcare, has the potential to grow into the largest integrated medical network in Malaysia, despite its humble beginnings in Borneo.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian stated that PMG’s expansion proves that initiatives starting in Sarawak can evolve into robust healthcare networks through commitment, shared values, and the collective efforts of individuals dedicated to building their future in the state.
He noted that PMG began its operations in 2012 with the opening of a pharmacy, before expanding into medical clinics in Sri Aman and dental services in 2013.
“Today, PMG operates more than 200 pharmacies, 40 clinics in Sarawak, eight dental clinics, and now two physiotherapy centres. This is an extraordinary achievement.
"I look forward to their next expansion—not just to be the largest network, but the largest integrated medical network in Malaysia, originating right here from the forests of Borneo,” he said.
He made these remarks during the official opening of PMG Physio at Jalan Pahlawan on Saturday.
Datuk Amar Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, praised PMG’s courage in exploring new technologies, including the use of robotic rehabilitation systems in physiotherapy treatments to enhance patients' quality of life.
He expressed hope that more innovative initiatives would continue to contribute to the development of Sarawak's healthcare sector, aligning with the state’s 2030 development aspirations.
Furthermore, he emphasised that physiotherapy remains a field with significant growth potential in Sarawak, as it remains relatively untapped.
He pointed out that the number of physiotherapists in the state is still limited; government hospitals currently have only about 24 physiotherapy positions, not all of which are filled, indicating vast opportunities for future development in this sector.
Also in attendance were PMG Healthcare Sdn Bhd Managing Director Dr Chieng King Chong, Deputy Managing Director Andrew Wong Pak Ung, Chief Pharmacist Ling Hung Leong, and PMG Physio Sdn Bhd Director of Physiotherapy Everlynn Hii Yi Xuan. — UKASnews
