RM362,600 Contribution Accompanies Aidilfitri Celebration In Spaoh
SPAOH: The Spaoh 2026 Aidilfitri Get-Together served as a meaningful platform to further strengthen unity among the multi-ethnic community while supporting the ongoing development agenda in the Spaoh area.
The event, which brought together about 600 residents at the Spaoh Community Hall, was officiated by the Sarawak Deputy Premier, who is also the Minister for Finance and New Economy as well as Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
The Bukit Saban Assemblyman was accompanied by his wife, Datin Amar Dato Doreen Mayang.
In his speech, he emphasised that the Aidilfitri celebration is not merely a festive occasion but also an important medium for strengthening harmony, togetherness and unity within the community.
According to him, Sarawak’s strength lies in the ability of its people to live harmoniously amid ethnic and cultural diversity, which in turn forms the foundation of the state’s stability and progress.
He also reaffirmed the Sarawak Government’s commitment to intensifying development efforts covering infrastructure, the economy and basic facilities in order to enhance the wellbeing of the people.
He noted that major infrastructure projects, such as the construction of the Batang Lupar 2 Bridge, will further strengthen connectivity between Spaoh, Betong and Sri Aman, while also stimulating local economic activities.
At the same time, he highlighted the state government’s continuous efforts in championing Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and in strengthening control over strategic economic resources.
He also reminded the community to remain vigilant during the hot weather to prevent fire incidents, and to practise prudent financial management in facing uncertainties in the global economy.
During the event, he also presented contribution cheques totalling RM362,600 to the Spaoh Malay community, benefiting 942 Heads of Household (KIR), four Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), Masjid Darul Syifa, as well as 10 surau in the area.
Meanwhile, Betong Member of Parliament, Dato Dr Richard Rapu, said that Aidilfitri symbolises unity and strengthens ties among members of the community.
He also stressed the importance of education and economic development as the foundation for improving the people’s standard of living, while reminding the public to be cautious of the spread of unverified information that could undermine unity.
The event, organised by the Spaoh 2026 Aidilfitri Get-Together Organising Committee, was also attended by local leaders, heads of departments and members of the local community in a harmonious atmosphere. -UKASnews
