Dion Shines With Double Silver At Dance World Cup Malaysia Qualifier
SABAH: Sarawakian dancer Dion Das Louis bagged two silver medals at the Dance World Cup Malaysia Qualifier on 28 until 29 March at JKKN Sabah.
As the only Sarawakian contestant, Dion competed in the Mini Solo National Folklore and Senior Duo Folklore categories.
In his solo performance, he incorporated a carved ladder prop, drawing inspiration from the legend of Bujang Berani and the spirit of Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban.
Meanwhile, in the Senior Duo category, he joined Sabahan dancer Mohamad Haykal for ‘Kanjet Lian Sura’, a performance inspired by Orang Ulu mythology.
Renowned Sabahan choreographer Brandon Balasius brought Dion’s bold warrior vision to life, crafting choreography and costume that highlighted his commanding presence on stage.
Judged by an international panel from Jersey, Dion’s captivating performances earned him silver medals in both categories.
Following this remarkable achievement, Dion is now qualified to represent Malaysia at the Dance World Cup World Finals 2026, scheduled to be held in Dublin, Ireland, this coming July. -UKASnews
