Sia Sitok Sarawak 2026 Offers 40 Per Cent Discount
KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawak is intensifying its strategy to attract domestic tourists through the launch of the Sia Sitok Sarawak 2026 campaign, featuring discounts of up to 40 per cent, thereby making the state a more affordable destination in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
The campaign, implemented by the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on Saturday, is seen as a proactive measure to strengthen domestic tourism demand amid changing global travel patterns and current geopolitical uncertainties.
STB Chairman Dato Dennis Ngau said domestic tourists remain a key pillar for the sustainability of Sarawak’s tourism industry, with this campaign creating opportunities to enhance engagement and attract more visitors to the state.
According to him, over 80 tourism packages are on offer with a travel validity period until 15 December 2026, thereby providing tourists with the flexibility to plan their holidays throughout the year with better value for money.
The campaign involves the cooperation of 17 licensed Sarawak tour operators, encompassing packages with a minimum of three days and two nights, inclusive of accommodation, guide tours, and curated itineraries.
Key attractions highlighted include Kuching as a heritage and cultural hub, Sibut with its Kajang River and longhouse experiences, and Miri as the gateway to UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Gunung Mulu National Park and Niah National Park, alongside the unique Bario Highlands.
At the same time, the campaign is further bolstered by a calendar of over 110 tourism events throughout 2026 to enhance the state’s appeal.
Among the highlights is the Rainforest World Music Festival 2026, set to take place from 26 to 28 June at the Sarawak Cultural Village, featuring local and international artists in the unique setting of the Borneo rainforest.
Throughout the MATTA Fair, the Sarawak Pavilion also featured various interactive experiences, including traditional music performances, handicraft demonstrations, and cultural activities to provide a comprehensive overview of the state’s unique tourism products. -UKASnews
