KUCHING: Sarawak continues to elevate itself onto the global stage when it was chosen as the venue for a tribute concert to Asian music legend Teresa Teng, thus boosting the state's position as an international cultural tourism hub.
The 31st anniversary concert themed ‘Tian Mimi (Sweet on You)’ is scheduled to take place on 24 and 25 July at the Pullman Hotel Kuching, a result of a strategic collaboration between Evac Holdings Group Sdn Bhd through Luxe Event Management and Entertainment and the Teresa Teng Foundation.
The organisation of the prestigious event also received the full support of the Sarawak Ministry for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) and the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) in line with efforts to strengthen the event-based tourism industry.
According to the organisers, this initiative marks a proactive measure in driving Sarawak as a major cultural tourism destination, in addition to stimulating domestic economic growth through increased tourist arrivals.
“Organising an international-scale concert like this not only attracts foreign tourists, but also opens up job opportunities and provides significant economic benefits to the local community in Kuching,” said MTCP Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
The speciality of this concert lies in the appearance of international artists including Hu Die, a singer who has received official recognition from Teresa Teng’s family, and Wang Tianyi, known as the ‘Male Teresa Teng’.
The audience will be treated to a series of iconic songs by the late singer through solo and duet performances, thus promising a nostalgic experience that spans generations.
Also present to enliven the launch ceremony were MTCP Deputy Ministers Datuk Snowdan Lawan and Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.
Interested members of the public can get tickets via the online platform Swiftic.my or the Pay & Go application, with further information obtained through the organiser’s official social media pages. -UKASnews
