Sarawak Records RM12.55 Billion Revenue Collection In 2025
KUCHING: Sarawak recorded state revenue collection amounting to RM12.553 billion for the 2025 fiscal year despite facing challenges arising from global economic uncertainties and fluctuations in commodity markets.
Sarawak Deputy Premier who is also the Second Minister for Finance and New Economy Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the amount exceeded the revised revenue projection of RM12.076 billion.
According to him, the state government had earlier lowered its revenue target from RM14.201 billion following the moderate outlook in the oil and gas sector, which placed pressure on the state’s fiscal planning.
“Despite these challenges, our economic resilience and fiscal management discipline have stood out.
“Based on actual performance, Sarawak successfully collected RM12.553 billion in revenue, surpassing the revised projection by RM477 million, or 4 per cent,” he said during his ministerial winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Wednesday.
Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the state sales tax on oil and gas continues to be the largest contributor to state revenue.
He added that since its introduction in January 2019, cumulative revenue collection from the state sales tax on oil and gas has reached RM24.77 billion as of April 2026.
Touching on state expenditure, he said Sarawak spent RM14.17 billion on ordinary expenditure in 2025, of which RM5.37 billion was used for operational expenditure, while RM8.8 billion was channelled into the Development Fund Account to finance various state development programmes and projects.
He added that the State Government also recorded development expenditure amounting to RM9.8 billion, or 88 per cent of the total development budget of RM11.07 billion. -UKASnews
