Sarawak Aims To Launch First Nanosatellite By 2030
KUCHING: Sarawak aims to launch its first nanosatellite by the year 2030 using CubeSat-based technology as a step to strengthen the development of the state's aerospace sector.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg noted that the technology involves the utilization of small satellites for real-time data collection and earth observation.
"Sarawak will have the capability to develop its own satellite system to acquire earth imagery, geolocation data, and strategic information for planning, environmental monitoring, and resource management purposes," he said.
He said this during his winding-up session in conjunction with the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting on Wednesday.
In relation to that, he explained that the Sarawak Aerospace Advisory Council (SAAC) has also been established to provide strategic direction and comprehensive guidance in driving the development of Sarawak's aerospace sector in line with current global industry standards.
According to him, the Sarawak Space Agency will also be established as the main coordinating entity responsible for planning, forging strategic collaborations, and developing local capabilities. — UKASnews
