Launch Of Bintulu TIC This June 11 To Drive Sarawak's Low-Carbon Industrial Transformation
KUCHING: The launch of the Industrial Cluster Transition (TIC) in Bintulu this coming June 11 is set to become a crucial catalyst for Sarawak's industrial transformation towards high-tech, low-carbon, and sustainable development.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said that the TIC initiative will accelerate the modernization of the state's industrial sector through strategic collaborations between the industry, government, and stakeholders.
“I am proud to share that we now have more than 20 TIC signatories comprising industry players, government agencies, and academic institutions,” he said.
He said this during his winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting on Wednesday.
Commenting further, he is confident that the Bintulu TIC has the potential to emerge as a main hub for the country's industrial transformation, particularly in the fields of digitalisation, decarbonisation, and low-carbon technological innovation.
“This potential is driven by the position of the Bintulu-Samalaju corridor, which currently houses various strategic industrial assets including the gas, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), petrochemical, hydrogen, metal processing, fertilizer, and renewable energy sectors,” he added.
He further explained that the Bintulu TIC will be among the primary catalysts for the modernization of Sarawak's industrial sector, besides unlocking long-term economic opportunities for the people of the state through the development of a more sustainable and competitive future industry. — UKASnews
