Sarawak Continues To Defend MA63 rights, Prioritises Stability For State Development
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government is determined to continue defending the state’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), including rights related to oil and gas resources, to ensure the interests of the people of Sarawak remain protected.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the state government’s position remains consistent in upholding Sarawak’s rights in line with the spirit of MA63.
According to him, political stability and social harmony must continue to be preserved as they form a crucial foundation for the state’s development and investor confidence.
“Without stability and harmony, it is difficult for us to achieve sustainable progress, attract investment and ensure the continued prosperity of the people,” he said.
He said this during his winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Wednesday.
The Sarawak Premier added that good relations with the Federal Government will continue to be strengthened, while at the same time Sarawak will continue to seek appropriate allocations to meet the state’s development needs.
He said among the key priorities are the development of basic infrastructure, including roads, water supply, schools, clinics and hospitals, particularly in rural and interior areas of Sarawak.
Touching on the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), he said the less-than-four-year period towards 2030 is a crucial phase in realising the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
In this regard, he urged all implementing agencies and civil service personnel to avoid unnecessary delays in project implementation, service delivery, approval processes and decision-making, to ensure Sarawak’s development agenda can be carried out more effectively. -UKASnews
