Sarawak Premier Hints State Election May Be Drawing Near
KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg has hinted that the Sarawak State Election (PRN) is soon approaching.
Although he did not indicate the actual date, he stressed that the timeframe for holding the PRN remains until February next year.
“I myself do not know when the election will be held, but what I do know is that our term (government) lasts until February. However, it is actually getting close, but I still do not know when the ‘drum will sound’,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Backbenchers Night held at a leading hotel here on Wednesday.
The Sarawak Premier also expressed concern about the divided political situation in Peninsular Malaysia, which could destabilise the nation and raise issues.
Therefore, he called on the GPS Government to remain united in rejecting divisive politics while continuing to work hard to safeguard the welfare of the people.
"For that reason, it is vital that the GPS Government continues to be a stronghold to safeguard Sarawak,” he said. -UKASnews
