MA63 Remains Core Of Sarawak's Struggle To Safeguard State Rights
KUCHING: The struggle to claim Sarawak's rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) will continue to be strengthened regardless of changes in leadership or the political situation at the Federal level.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the endeavour to claim Sarawak's rights remains a priority for the state government because it involves the interests of the people and the future development of Sarawak.
“Regardless of whoever forms the Federal Government, MA63 will always be our fight," he said.
He said this when met by the media after the Sarawak Inter Division 2026 tournament here, on Sunday.
Datuk Henry said Sarawak is now in a significantly different position than before through the strengthening of the state government in terms of economy, development and the ability to self-govern.
He added that the Sarawak Government also continues to implement various development projects and assistance to the people consistently including rural development, educational assistance and welfare programmes that directly benefit the people.
According to him, the state's political stability and economic strength allow Sarawak to continue to strengthen its position in fighting for the state's rights and ensuring that development can continue for the well-being of the people. -UKASnews
