SCaT Fair 2026: Over 1,900 Career Opportunities Offered On 6-7 June
KUCHING: The Sarawak Career and Training Fair (SCaT Fair) 2026 continues to strengthen its role as a strategic platform in connecting local talent with educational and career opportunities in line with Sarawak's human capital development aspirations.
Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that the organisation of the 12th edition of the programme reflects the Sarawak Government's continued commitment to empowering talent development and increasing the marketability of the state's workforce.
According to him, SCaT Fair 2026 which will be held on 6 and 7 June at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre (HEEC) in Kuching, which is expected to attract more than 25,000 physical visitors and over 100,000 online views.
“This programme functions as a ‘one-stop centre’ that provides various information related to educational opportunities, financial assistance, and career paths to students, youth and the general public.
“It also aims to empower youth to be able to make the right decisions about their future while fostering an interest in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) field,” he said.
He said this at the SCaT Fair 2026 press conference at the TEGAS Digital Village Auditorium here on Monday.
Explaining further, Dato Sri Roland Sagah explained that more than 50 exhibitors consisting of public and private tertiary education institutions, government agencies, industry players, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and training providers will participate in the exhibition.
He added that through collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), the programme also offers open interview sessions involving various industry sectors with approximately 1,982 job vacancies available.
Meanwhile, he shared that the special oil and gas zone coordinated by Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) will be among the main attractions through interactive exhibitions and sharing related to career opportunities and future workforce needs in the sector.
He also encouraged Sarawakians to take advantage of the opportunity provided through SCaT Fair 2026, particularly in obtaining education and career information directly from the institutions and companies involved.
“SCaT Fair is not just an exhibition, but an important platform in supporting Sarawak’s aspirations towards becoming a high-income region driven by skilled and competitive human capital,” he stressed.
In addition, various side programmes will also be held throughout the two-day event including STEM Playground, Sarawak Minecraft Championship, Sarawak Rocketeer Challenges, TVET Master Competition, Career Exploration Programme (CEP), Sultan Iskandar Planetarium (PSI) Dome and various other interactive activities.
Also present at the press conference were Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment and Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) Chairman Datuk Len Talif Salleh, MEITD Deputy Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis and other guests. -UKASnews
