UKAS Community Programme Strengthens Government–Rural Community Relations
SIMANGGANG: The Randau Komuniti programme by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) continues to serve as an important platform in strengthening ties between the Sarawak government and rural communities.
Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the programme enables the public to obtain accurate explanations on state policies, policies and development initiatives implemented by the state government for the people of Sarawak.
“Through this programme, the people will understand that the Sarawak government is working for them including implementing mega projects, introducing free education for children of the Land of the Hornbills, providing financial assistance and more.
“I hope programmes like this will serve as a platform for the public to obtain accurate information, as well as to better understand the development direction of the Sarawak government,” he said when officiating the programme at the Kampung Muhibbah Sri Aman Multipurpose Hall here on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis who also serves as the Simanggang Assemblyman said that rural communities, particularly in the Simanggang constituency must be prepared to face an increasingly modern and digitalised world.
“For this reason, it is important for rural communities to take the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, skills, and understanding in order to improve the economic well being of their families and respective communities,” he said.
He stated that such efforts by rural communities indirectly assist the Sarawak government in realising the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) by 2030.
A total of five government agencies also set up service counters during the programme including the Sri Aman Division Health Department, Sri Aman Division Social Welfare Department, MySalam and the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM) Sarawak (Sri Aman).
Also conducted during the programme was a briefing on the Sarawak Premier’s initiatives by Awang Razif Awang Yusuf.
Also present at the officiating ceremony were UKAS Deputy Director Joachim Paggang Jabong, UKAS Sri Aman Division Officer Zaidil Ripin, representative of Sri Aman Division Resident Mohammad Fathullah Jamaeini, representative of Sri Aman District Officer Hamizan Yahya and Sri Aman Division Health Officer Dr Miruna. -UKASnews
