Sarawakian Youth Triumph At TVET Idol 2026 In Conjunction With National TVET Day
KUCHING: The artistic talent of Sarawakian youths continues to shine on the national stage as the state's representatives successfully recorded a proud achievement in the TVET Idol 2026 competition, held in conjunction with the National TVET Day celebration in Putrajaya.
Muhamad Farhan from Matang Vocational College emerged as the Champion of TVET Idol 2026 for the solo category after delivering a performance that captivated the attention of the judges and audience.
The victory enabled him to bring home a cash prize of RM3,000, besides elevating Sarawak's name on the national-level competition stage.
The success was made more meaningful given that the participation of the Sarawak representatives initially faced financial challenges involving travel and accommodation costs.
However, with the support of various parties including the accompanying teacher, Ts. Alexander Nyangau Boniface, they successfully proceeded with their participation all the way to the competition stage.
Also recording a proud achievement was Qaseh Ilyani Batrisya from Kuching Vocational College, who secured fifth place in the solo category through her performance on the sape, a traditional musical instrument, thereby receiving a consolation prize of RM500.
The achievements of both students prove that Sarawak TVET students do not only possess skills in technical and vocational fields, but are also highly talented in the fields of arts and performance.
National TVET Day 2026, which took place at Dataran Putrajaya from June 5 to 7, is a national platform that gathers ministries, agencies, TVET institutions, industry players, entrepreneurs, students, and the community in an effort to strengthen the nation's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem.
Centred on the theme “TVET Pilihan Utama Kerjaya”, the programme highlights TVET as a primary pathway towards high-skilled careers that meet future industry demands. — UKASnews
