Utilise Village Land Wisely For Modern Agricultural Activities
PADAWAN: Rural residents are urged to fully utilise village land wisely through modern and commercial agricultural activities to increase their income and stimulate local economic development.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport (Aviation and Road) and Mambong Assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said among the modern and commercial agricultural activities that can be implemented are the cultivation of paddy, bananas, and other crops capable of generating income.
In fact, he also suggested the development of the agro-tourism sector, such as homestays and glamping based on the beauty of paddy fields, particularly in the Rabak Bah area of Kampung Punau, as a new economic source for the residents.
“The government is always ready to assist if the residents demonstrate commitment and determination in developing their respective areas,” he said when speaking at the Rami Sibayan Nga Man Tubi Bauh Celebration of Kampung Punau 2026 here on Sunday.
Datuk Dr Jerip Susil emphasised the importance of providing basic infrastructure, such as agricultural roads, electricity supply, and irrigation systems, to support the development of the agricultural sector more systematically, specifically in the Kampung Punau area and the Mambong constituency.
The Kampung Punau 2026 Rami Sibayan Nga Man Tubi Bauh Celebration took place in a lively manner, filled with the colourful customs and culture of the Bidayuh Bisegu community, thereby fostering a spirit of unity among the local residents.
Various cultural and traditional activities were held throughout the programme, making the celebration not only a platform to strengthen relationships but also a continuous effort to preserve the Bidayuh cultural identity for future generations to inherit. — UKASnews
