MTCP Sarawak Strengthens Cooperation With MOTAC To Advance Tourism Sector Development
PUTRAJAYA: The Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) today paid an official visit to the Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC), Dato' Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, as an effort to strengthen strategic cooperation between the Sarawak Government and the Federal Government in the development of the tourism sector.
The MTCP delegation was led by the Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, together with MTCP Permanent Secretary, Morshidi Fredrick.
The visit served as an important platform for both parties to strengthen synergy, enhance coordination and discuss Sarawak's tourism agenda in line with the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
According to Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah, continuous cooperation and close coordination among all stakeholders are crucial to ensuring that every initiative implemented is able to deliver tangible benefits to communities, industry players and the nation as a whole.
In the same vein, MTCP also emphasised the importance of recognising Sarawak's unique strengths and advantages in developing a sustainable, inclusive and competitive tourism ecosystem.
Discussions also touched on Sarawak's distinctive tourism landscape, encompassing cultural heritage, biodiversity, indigenous community traditions, the creative industry, and natural attractions that form the state's key strengths.
The visit further reinforced the commitment of both MTCP and MOTAC in ensuring that the tourism sector continues to serve as a key driver of economic growth, cultural preservation and sustainable development for Sarawak and Malaysia. -UKASnews
