Kapit To Host Sarawak-Level National Day Celebration 2026
KAPIT: Kapit Division will host the Sarawak-Level National Day Celebration 2026 which will be held from 30 to 31 August, featuring a series of official events aimed at fostering patriotism, strengthening unity and reinforcing the spirit of love for the nation.
Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said the celebration is expected to bring together the state's top leadership and people from across Kapit Division and its surrounding areas.
The Minister Responsible for the Sarawak-Level National Day Celebration 2026 said the celebration will be graced by the presence of Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, as well as Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg and members of the state leadership.
“This celebration is not merely to commemorate National Day, but also serves as a platform to strengthen the spirit of unity, foster patriotism and honour the contributions and sacrifices of our nation's past leaders in building the country,” he said.
He said this during a press conference on
the celebration at the Kapit Division Resident's Office on Tuesday.
Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi said the celebration will feature three main events, namely the National Day Eve Celebration at Kapit Town Square on 30 August, followed by the Unity Walk and the National Day Assembly on 31 August.
He said the programme is expected to draw participation from people of all walks of life as a symbol of unity and togetherness in celebrating National Day.
He also called on the public, particularly residents of Kapit Division and the surrounding areas, to join the celebration as a manifestation of patriotism, unity and love for the nation.
Also present were Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang, Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus, Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Majang Renggi and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat. -UKASnews
