LIMBANG: Pesta Limbang 2026 served as a platform to showcase local water sports heritage and culture, while strengthening ties between the local community and the wider regional community, particularly from Brunei Darussalam.

The opening ceremony of Pesta Limbang 2026 on Saturday was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, representing Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

Held over two days from 19 to 20 September at Dataran Tebingan Limbang, the festival, organised by the Limbang Division Resident's Office, featured the Limbang Regatta as one of its main attractions.

The regatta not only added vibrancy to Pesta Limbang 2026, but also served as a platform to preserve and promote local water sports heritage and culture to the wider community.

At the same time, the event fostered a spirit of sportsmanship and unity, while creating greater opportunities for interaction between the local and regional communities. -UKASnews
