BETONG: The Sarawakku Sayang 2026 (Central Zone) programme in Betong Division, which will be held from September 25 to 27, is targeting up to 115,000 visitors over the three-day event.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the programme’s opening ceremony, scheduled for September 26, is expected to draw about 7,000 people, with 48 agencies participating and offering 158 types of services to the public.
“The organisers hope the programme will set a new attendance record, especially with the improving road network now making it easier for people from various areas to travel to Betong.
“People from Sri Aman, Sibu, the interior areas and other districts are expected to take the opportunity to attend the programme,” he said.
He said this during a press conference on the Sarawakku Sayang 2026 (Central Zone) programme for Betong Division at the Kenyalang Meeting Room, Betong Resident’s Office, on Saturday.
In this regard, he urged all parties, including the agencies involved, to step up publicity efforts to ensure information about the programme reaches the public.
He said the programme was a major and important event, and that the public should be aware of it and take the opportunity to attend from September 25 to 27.
Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah added that the programme would also feature various activities and attractions, including a lucky draw with a Perodua Bezza 1.3X as the grand prize.
“Besides the grand prize, there are seven other attractive prizes, including two motorcycles, a holiday package to Kuala Lumpur, gadgets including smartphones, sports equipment, as well as various electrical and household appliances,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operation) and Chairman of the Sarawakku Sayang 2026 (Central Zone) Programme Committee Datu Hii Chang Kee said the programme would also feature the Sarawak Cultural Night on September 25, with performances by local artistes including Mawat, Lucy M and others.
The People’s Concert on September 26 will feature Baby Shima, Bob Yusof and many other artistes.
He added that a five-kilometre fun run would also be held on the morning of September 27.
The event has received an encouraging response, with participation already reaching 1,000 people, and more participants are expected.
