Sarawak Premier Welcomes Additional RM1.1 Billion In Federal Allocation
KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg has welcomed the increase in the Federal Government's contribution to Sarawak to RM16.2 billion for 2027, up RM1.1 billion from RM15.1 billion in 2026.
He said the development reflected the working relationship between the Sarawak Government and the Federal Government, which continues to be strengthened through ongoing negotiations.
"Yesterday, Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim raised the Federal Government's contribution to Sarawak to RM16.2 billion. Thank you to the Federal Government," he said.
He said this in his speech at the Grand Parade and Rally in conjunction with the Celebration of the 80th Birthday of the Sarawak Governor at Padang Merdeka here on Saturday.
Commenting on the Interim Special Grant, he also expressed appreciation to Anwar for the announcement made at the 2026 National Malaysia Day Celebration on September 16.
"On that day, the Prime Minister announced an increase in the Interim Special Grant to Sarawak from RM600 million to RM1.5 billion for this year," he said.
He added that the cooperation would continue on the basis of understanding and solidarity, in line with the framework of the Federal Constitution and the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). -UKASnews
