35 Of 1,350 Recipients Receive Sarawak State Honours
KUCHING: A total of 35 individuals received Sarawak State Honours, Stars and Medals at an investiture ceremony held in conjunction with the 80th Birthday Celebration of the Sarawak Governor at the ceremonial hall of the Dewan Istiadat, Astana Negeri Sarawak, here on Saturday.
They were among 1,350 individuals listed to receive state honours for 2026.
The honours were conferred by Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
Senator Dato Sri Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah led the recipients of the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (P.N.B.S.), alongside three other recipients, namely Dato Sri Azizah Nawawi, Dato Sri Abdul Wahab Aziz and Dato Sri Tay Ah Ching @ Tay Chin Kin.
In the category of the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (P.G.B.K.), the three recipients were Datuk Dean Wayne Daly, Datuk Idris Buang and Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.
Meanwhile, six individuals were listed as recipients of the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (D.J.B.S.), namely Dato Dzulkornain Masron, Dato Morshidi Fredrick, Dato Ir. Ts. Dr Angelia Liew San Chuin, Dato Dominic Chungat, Dato Mual Suaud and Dato Ts. Dr Peter Morin Michael Paong.
A further 22 individuals were listed as recipients of the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (P.S.B.S.).
Among them were Dato Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, Major General Dato Mohd Sobirin Mohd Yusof, Senator Dato Rita Sarimah Patrick Insol, Senator Dato Susan Chemerai Anding, Dato Friday Belik, Dato Azerina Mohd Arip, Professor Dato Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit and Dato Dr Veronica Lugah.
The list also included the late Dato Sibat Buyong, who was represented by Puan Ruth Sibat @ Nur Mithali Abdullah on his behalf.
Also present to witness the investiture ceremony were the wife of the Sarawak Governor, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi; Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, accompanied by his daughter Puan Dayang Norjihan; Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian; Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; members of the Sarawak Cabinet; and other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
