Sarawak Governor's Service In Defending State's Security Will Not Be Forgotten - Sarawak Premier
KUCHING: The service of the Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar in defending Sarawak's peace while serving in the Border Scouts' Police Field Force in the Rajang Security Command (RASCOM) continues to be remembered as part of the history of his sacrifice for the state.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi's willingness to risk his life in confronting the communist threat was a great sacrifice to ensure Sarawak was free from the menace.
"The service of Tuan Yang Terutama Tun in defending Sarawak's peace while serving in the Police Field Force in the Rajang Security Command, or RASCOM, is part of a history of sacrifice that must not be forgotten.
"I am certain that his service and willingness to put his life on the line while fighting communist elements will remain part of Tun's history of sacrifice for a Sarawak free from the communist threat," he said.
He said this in his speech at the Grand Parade and Rally in conjunction with the Celebration of the 80th Birthday of the Sarawak Governor at Padang Merdeka here on Saturday.
He added that Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi's career journey, from security forces member to lawyer, politician, federal Cabinet member and Dewan Negara President before being appointed the Sarawak Governor, reflected his extensive experience in public service.
"Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi's experience in security, law, the constitution and national administration must have given him a broad perspective in understanding the course of governing the state and the nation," he said. -UKASnews
