Sarawak Revenue Projected To Reach Historic RM15.1 Billion, Development Benefits Returned To Rakyat
KUCHING: The increase in Sarawak's revenue — projected to reach an all-time high of RM15.1 billion in 2027 — enables the Sarawak Government to expand development investments and channel direct benefits back to the people.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, stated that state revenue has more than doubled from RM5.9 billion in 2016 to a projected RM13.6 billion this year.
According to him, this revenue growth significantly bolsters the Sarawak Government's financial capacity to fund state development priorities, particularly in providing infrastructure and public amenities that directly benefit the populace.
“Our increased revenue has enabled us to mobilise greater resources to finance Sarawak’s development priorities, and these benefits are being reinvested back to the people of Sarawak,” he said.
He said this when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting here on Wednesday.

Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari highlighted that Sarawak is currently executing major road infrastructure programmes, such as the Coastal Road Network and the Second Trunk Road valued at approximately RM11 billion, fully funded by the Sarawak Government.
He noted that the programme encompasses the construction of 21 major bridges, 193 kilometers of new roads, and the upgrading of 425 kilometres of existing roads, with the Coastal Road Network expected to be completed in 2027 and the Second Trunk Road in 2030.
He added that the Sarawak Government has also allocated RM2.27 billion for 2027 for these projects and other key routes, including the Northern Coastal Highway.
In addition, he stated that the RM3.8 billion 142-kilometre Baram road project linking Miri, Marudi, Mulu, Long Panai, and Long Lama is also underway to enhance connectivity across the region.
Furthermore, over 2,700 kilometres of water pipelines across Sarawak are being upgraded and replaced to improve supply reliability and reduce non-revenue water loss.
He emphasized that this infrastructure development is complemented by strategic investments in education, targeted welfare assistance, and initiatives designed to enhance the quality of life for all Sarawakians. — UKASnews
