SMK Saribas Form Six Students Urged To Strive For Success, Uphold Integrity & Seize Future Opportunities
SARIBAS: Form Six students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Saribas have been urged to strengthen their self-discipline, uphold integrity and maintain an open mind in facing the increasingly competitive challenges of education and the working world.
The call was made by Deputy Minister for Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Dr Mohammad Razi Sitam when speaking at the 2026 SMK Saribas Form Six AKSARI Bahtera Budi Dinner, which was held in a lively atmosphere filled with fond memories on Saturday.
He said completing pre-university studies, particularly the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), was a commendable achievement, given that the programme required a high level of discipline, mental resilience and considerable personal sacrifice.
He said students should be proud of their respective achievements as these demonstrated their ability to progress to higher levels of education or embark on their chosen careers.
He also stressed that true success was measured not solely by academic achievements but also by good character, integrity and respect for parents, teachers and the community.
He reminded students to make discipline and consistency the foundation of their success, while remaining willing to acquire new knowledge and adapt to technological advancements and changing circumstances.
At the same time, young people were advised to stay away from negative social influences, including drug abuse, excessive hedonistic lifestyles and negative peer pressure that could jeopardise their future.
He also reminded students not to be discouraged by failure but instead regard every challenge as an opportunity for self-improvement and to build resilience in life.
In addition, students were encouraged to develop greater maturity and critical thinking skills when evaluating information, particularly on social media, to avoid being misled by fake news or unverified information.
Commenting on future education prospects, he said the Federal Government and Sarawak Government remained committed to strengthening human capital development through wider access to higher education, the enhancement of high-skilled Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and greater emphasis on the digital economy and green energy.
He said Sarawak's economic transformation efforts under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) were expected to create wider employment opportunities for young people, particularly those with academic qualifications and skills suited to the needs of future industries.
In this regard, he expressed hope that the knowledge and skills acquired by students during their time at SMK Saribas would serve as a strong foundation for them to pursue further studies, build professional careers and contribute to the development of the state and country.
In his speech, he also expressed appreciation to the school administration, organising committee, teaching staff, parents and guardians for their sacrifices, support and commitment in ensuring the students' success throughout their studies.
He described the close cooperation between the school, parents and community as one of the key elements in fostering students' success and well-being. -UKASnews
