KUCHING: A range of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives by Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) in conjunction with Sarawak Regatta 2026 focuses on community welfare, support for local entrepreneurs and the preservation of Sarawak's cultural heritage.
BPHB Group President and Chief Executive Officer Anuar Ismail said the initiatives reflected the company's commitment to contributing to social development and community well-being, alongside its focus on business performance.
He was speaking at the symbolic handover ceremony for CSR contributions and programme collaborations held in conjunction with Sarawak Regatta 2026 at Kuching Waterfront on Sunday.
Among the initiatives was the presentation of essential supplies to the Kuching Akhlak Hostel Visiting Board, as well as contributions of equipment to Bintawa Maternal and Child Health Clinic to help improve its facilities and the comfort of users.
BPHB also extended support to local perahu tambang operators through contributions to help sustain their livelihoods, while recognising the role of this traditional form of water transport as part of Sarawak's living heritage.
In efforts to preserve traditional arts, BPHB collaborated with Hikayat Sulaman Enterprise to support the continued practice of kain keringkam embroidery, a traditional textile heritage of Sarawakian women which also has the potential to create economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
In addition, BPHB sponsored the Perauk Sarong event in Kuching and supported the Pickleball Fiesta 2026 organised by MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak, as part of efforts to promote active lifestyles and strengthen community ties through sports and recreational activities.
Anuar said Sarawak Regatta was not merely a water sports event but also a cultural heritage that symbolised the identity, unity and pride of the people of Sarawak.
He said BPHB's participation in Sarawak Regatta for the fourth consecutive year provided a platform to strengthen the company's relationship with the community and support the implementation of initiatives that benefited the public.
