Lawas Kitchen & Laman Usahawan Empower Local Entrepreneurs In Conjunction With Lawas Festival 2026
LAWAS: The Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) continues to reinforce local entrepreneurship development through Lawas Kitchen and Laman Usahawan in conjunction with the Lawas Festival 2026, taking place from 5 to 8 November, 2026 at the Lawas Waterfront Esplanade.
The Pre-Launch Ceremony of Lawas Kitchen was officiated by MINTRED MSME Advisor, Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, and attended by Permanent Secretary of MINTRED Datu Lester Matthew, Deputy Permanent Secretary of MINTRED Lo Sheau Sia, Head of MINTRED Entrepreneur Development Division Zarifhadi Bujang, Lawas District heads of departments, as well as local community leaders and village chiefs.
Lawas Kitchen provides a marketing and promotional platform for 30 local entrepreneurs offering a wide variety of local cuisine, thereby giving business owners the opportunity to showcase products, expand markets, and increase income, while simultaneously promoting the unique culinary heritage of the Lawas community.
Also introduced was Laman Usahawan, an information-sharing and support services platform linking entrepreneurs directly with business development agencies.
Among its main highlights is the introduction to ENBASE (Entrepreneurship Business Ecosystem Sarawak), a MINTRED initiative aimed at strengthening Sarawak's entrepreneurial ecosystem in a more integrated and coordinated manner.
Laman Usahawan also features the participation of the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Agrobank, and TEKUN Nasional, providing information on services, capacity building, business digitalisation, advisory services, as well as assistance opportunities and financial facilities for entrepreneurs.
The organisation of both initiatives reflects MINTRED's commitment to expanding entrepreneurs' access to market opportunities and business development support, particularly in rural areas, while supporting community economic growth and fostering a more dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem in Sarawak. -UKASnews
