KUCHING: The Borneo International Consumer Expo (BICE) 2026 drew to a close after four days at the Metrocity Convention Centre, garnering an encouraging response from people from all walks of life.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian extended his congratulations to the organisers for the successful staging of the expo which brought together more than 250 vendors, including international brands, local entrepreneurs and government agencies from Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia.
“The organisation of this expo is in line with Sarawak's aspirations to strengthen its role as the regional hub of Borneo, thus supporting economic development and the agenda of regional inclusiveness.
“BICE is not just an exhibition and business platform, but also serves as a strategic medium to enhance consumer awareness, promote responsible business practices and strengthen relationships and cooperation among policymakers, industry players and the community,” he said.
He spoke when officiating at the closing ceremony of BICE 2026 on Sunday.
Also present were Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Consul General of Brunei Darussalam in Kuching Sheikh Abdul Madani Datuk Paduka Sheikh Abdul Ghani, Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching Dr Abdullah Zulkifli, as well as heads of departments and representatives of government agencies.
In line with efforts to uplift community welfare, programmes held during BICE 2026 included the Jualan Rahmah which offered daily necessities at affordable prices to visitors.
The closing ceremony also featured the presentation of awards to winners of various programmes and competitions organised in conjunction with the expo, including the Borneo Star Talent which saw participation from Indonesia, Sabah and Sarawak. -UKASnews
