Delegation Pays Working Visit To Doi Tung Development Project & Halal Science Centre at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand
BANGKOK: A delegation led by Deputy Minister for Women and Childhood Development, Datuk Rosey Yunus, conducted a visit to the Doi Tung Development Project, which operates under the auspices of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation.
The delegation was also joined by Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok Diplomatic Administrative Officer, Azri Hazwani Abdul Aziz, and Information Assistant, Amanah.
During the visit, Doi Tung Director of Sustainability, Thanit Kongkaew, delivered a briefing regarding the foundation’s history and its developmental evolution.
The primary purpose of this visit was to gain a more profound understanding of the integrated development model employed by Doi Tung to transform community income streams through social entrepreneurship, vocational training, and active local participation.
Furthermore, the session provided exposure to the economic empowerment of women and families via sustainable agricultural practices, handicraft production, and the implementation of value-added industries.
The visit also offered an opportunity to examine the governance structures, funding models, and long-term sustainability mechanisms that serve as the foundation for enduring community wellbeing.
A formal visit was also undertaken to The Halal Science Centre at Chulalongkorn University, where Centre Director Dr Pornpimol Mahamad, shared comprehensive information regarding halal products produced by local communities in Thailand.
The session was attended by several of the centre’s prominent researchers, including Dr Najwa Yanya Santiworakun, Dr Acharee Suksuwan, Dr Nureesun Mahamud, and Jasmine Manee.
Th objective of the visit was to understand the critical role of halal science in ensuring quality, safety, and rigorous compliance with halal standards across the entire supply chain.
Additionally, the visit sought to study how the research, laboratory services, and technical consultancy provided by the centre support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in achieving halal certification.
The engagement further facilitated the exploration of best practices in integrating halal assurance with modern innovation to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of the international market. - UKASnews
