French Delegation Explores Investment Opportunities In Sarawak
KUCHING: A French delegation led by the Ambassador of France to Malaysia Marc Abensour visited Sarawak on a two-day mission to explore potential investment and collaboration opportunities in key sectors including aerospace, renewable energy, aviation manufacturing, oil and gas, and carbon capture technologies.
The delegation included Military Attaché Stefan Stefancic, Deputy Economic Counsellor Bouthaina Harfi, Head of Business France Jean-François Ambrosio, and Cultural Attaché Thierry d’Anna.
During the visit, the delegation met with several Sarawak agencies and stakeholders to better understand the state’s investment landscape and strategic development priorities.
Discussions focused on Sarawak’s growing role as a destination for sustainable and high-technology investments, supported by its strong renewable energy resources, industrial infrastructure and pro-investment policies.
The delegation first visited the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), where they were received by Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Husain and General Manager Rakayah Bujang.
They also held discussions with Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS), hosted by Chairman Tan Sri Hamid Bugo and Senior Vice President Dato Abang Arabi Abang Narudin, where opportunities in the oil and gas sector, including upstream and downstream activities and carbon capture technologies, were explored.
The visit concluded at InvestSarawak, where the delegation was hosted by Chief Executive Officer Timothy Ong.
Sarawak stakeholders presented the state’s development agenda under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which prioritises sustainable economic growth, renewable energy development and the expansion of the digital economy. – UKASnews
