PAKAN: The Sarawak Government remains committed to strengthening rural development through the implementation of Rural Transformation Projects (RTP), which deliver a direct impact on the well-being of the people.
In line with these efforts, Advisor in the Sarawak Premier’s Office (Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development) and Pakan Assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom officiated the construction of a new longhouse site at Rumah Melaka, Sungai Mun, Seberai Nunggang on Thursday.
The project, valued at RM100,000, is expected to be completed within two months and will serve as the foundation for a longhouse that is both more comfortable and safer for local residents.
According to Tan Sri William, this initiative not only provides more organised basic amenities but also reduces fire risks compared to older dwellings.
He added that the execution of the RTP reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that rural development is carried out in an inclusive and sustainable manner.
The ceremony was attended by approximately 50 residents who welcomed the project, noting its potential to improve their quality of life and provide a more conducive living environment. — UKASnews
