Tanjung Manis Drives Development, Benefits Extend To Coastal Communities
TANJUNG MANIS: Tanjung Manis continues to serve as a primary catalyst for development in the district and its surrounding areas, benefiting coastal communities such as Belawai, Rajang, Jerijih, Semalau and Sebayang.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment and Kuala Rajang Assemblyman, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, said the area’s development history shows that the opening of Tanjung Manis, previously a forested area with no permanent settlement, has significantly changed the local socio-economic landscape.
According to him, the majority of residents in Tanjung Manis today are among the early workforce who were directly involved in the area’s development before building their lives and families there.
“The implementation of the Tanjung Manis Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) has expanded the availability of residential lots in line with population growth, allowing more people to settle in the area,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Aidilfitri Celebration with Leaders 2026 held at the Tanjung Manis IKS Hall on Tuesday.
He added that the construction of several new bridges in coastal areas has also created opportunities for more infrastructure projects to strengthen connectivity.
“All these development plans require close collaboration among all government agencies, particularly those responsible for project implementation,” he said. -UKASnews
