Projects Over RM1 Billion Drives Kapit’s Potential
KAPIT: Kapit Division continues to be driven as a high potential region through the implementation of various development projects worth over RM1 billion, reflecting the government's continued commitment to empowering the interior regions.
Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that the Sarawak Government's strong financial position allows development efforts to be carried out dynamically, including through the establishment of the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) as a strategic measure to develop the region.
“More than RM1 billion has been channeled for the development of Kapit, including the implementation of the road project across Batang Rajang, the construction of a bridge worth RM300 million, a road to Nanga Seranau worth RM400 million, the Kapit River bridge worth RM100 million and the construction of a new District Police Headquarters (IPD) worth RM132 million.
“In addition, the construction of a MARA Professional College is also planned to strengthen education and human capital development in this area, in addition to the installation of Starlink facilities to increase rural internet access,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme organised by the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Rumah Jaceline Lia, Emperan Pedalai Mansau, Mumu, Ibau, Kapit, on Monday.
The Kapit Member of Parliament also called on the people to remain united and be prepared to face any possibility including the state election, to ensure the continuity of development and a more developed and prosperous future for Kapit.
Meanwhile, Dato Sri Alexander also announced an allocation of RM30,000 for the construction of stores and kitchens, as well as RM15,000 to the JKKK in support of the local community.
At the same event, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Native Law and Custom) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat also channeled a Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation of RM10,000 to the JKKK Rumah Jaceline Lia as well as RM5,000 to the Women's Bureau Association of the longhouse.
In addition, Political Secretary to the Minister of Works Datuk Alvin Runggah Jimbun also contributed a unit of Starlink facilities to improve the communication system as well as 10 boxes of clean water for each family in the longhouse due to the lack of piped water supply. -UKASnews
