100 Students Join Next Gen Leaders Programme In Sri Aman
SRI AMAN: The ‘Next Gen Leaders – Be the Leader, Unlock Your Future’ programme which brought together 100 secondary school students from around Sri Aman has been described as a strategic approach in nurturing a young generation that is principled, capable and prepared to become future leaders.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Empowerment and Community Health Initiative for Lingga Constituency, held at a hotel here, aimed to shape and cultivate leadership qualities among students from a young age.
The three-day programme which commenced on wednesday gathered students from four secondary schools in the Sri Aman area, namely SMK Lingga, SMK Simanggang, SMK St Luke and SMK Sri Aman, with each school represented by 25 students and two accompanying teachers.
Lingga Assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor said the initiative places emphasis on boosting self-confidence, communication skills, critical thinking and teamwork among participants.
“Efforts such as this are important in producing a young generation that is principled, capable and able to become the next generation of leaders,” she said when officiating the programme.
She also said that the Sarawak Government remains committed to education development, including the implementation of free education from 2026 for Sarawak students pursuing tertiary studies at four state-owned institutions.
Throughout the programme, participants were exposed to various leadership activities conducted by experienced facilitators led by Dr Nur Aida Kipli from the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies, UiTM Sarawak Branch, together with Senior Engineer of Black Dot Management Sdn Bhd Ir Masayu Kiprawi.
The closing ceremony and certificate presentation were officiated by Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat.
In his speech, he stressed that the programme serves as an important platform in empowering students with leadership values, competitiveness and readiness to face future challenges.
“Students should make full use of the education opportunities and human capital development provided to enhance their employability and build a brighter future,” he said.
Various assessment activities were also held throughout the programme, including the selection of Best Student, Youth Hope Award, Best Group and Best Presentation, as well as a lucky draw to encourage participants. -UKASnews
