Sarawak Government Remains Committed To Helping Rural Community
SEBAUH: The Sarawak Government remains committed to helping the rural community through various welfare and development initiatives including the distribution of contributions in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said that assistance such as the contribution of sacrificial cattle is among the government's efforts to share benefits with the people as well as strengthen ties within the community.
He said that a total of six sacrificial cattle were distributed to several villages in Sebauh including Kampung Labang, Kampung Pandan, Kampung Yoh, Kampung Hilir and Kampung Ulu, as well as involving teachers in the area.
"Before this, we contributed two or three sacrificial cattle but now we contribute more. The more we have, the more we share,” he said when speaking at the cattle handover ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha 2026/1447H at the Kampung Hilir Mosque here on Wednesday.
Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi also warned the rural community against unnecessarily selling family-owned land to meet short-term needs.
According to him, land is an important asset that needs to be preserved and cultivated because its value is expected to continue to increase along with the development that occurs in rural areas, especially in Sebauh and Bintulu.
He added that the community is also encouraged to utilise existing land for agricultural and livestock activities to improve their family’s socio-economic status.
Also present was the Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier Collin Patan. -UKASnews
