LUNDU: Residents of Kampung Bagak and Kampung Pasir Tengah can now enjoy more comfortable and modern community facilities following the completion of two multipurpose halls with a total project value of RM900,000.
The facilities were officially handed over to the local communities during a Project Handover Ceremony for completed projects under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), officiated by Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang.
Each hall was constructed at a cost of RM450,000, bringing the total project expenditure to RM900,000 as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen public facilities in rural areas.
In his speech, Billy said facilities such as multipurpose halls play an important role as community activity centres while also serving as platforms to strengthen social ties and foster unity among residents.
According to him, the halls can be utilised for various programmes, including meetings, community activities, cultural events, educational programmes and official functions involving the local community.
The GKCDA project reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to expanding rural infrastructure development to enhance the well-being and quality of life of residents in the Opar constituency. -UKASnews
