Four Bills To Be Tabled At 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly Sitting
KUCHING: Four Bills will be tabled during the Second Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN), scheduled to take place at the Sarawak DUN Complex from 12 to 21 October.
Sarawak DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar, stated that the four Bills comprise two Supply Bills and two Amendment Bills, with no new Bills being introduced.
“Four government Bills will be tabled, namely the Supply (2027) Bill, 2026; the Supplementary Supply (2026) Bill, 2026; the Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill, 2026; and the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
“No new Bills are being introduced. Two are supply bills, including the budget, while the remaining two are amendment bills,” he said.
He said this during a press conference following the Pre-Council Meeting in conjunction with the Sarawak DUN Sitting, chaired by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Headquarters here on Friday.
According to him, the Supply (2027) Bill, 2026 will be tabled by the Premier of Sarawak for its first and second readings on 12 October, prior to its third reading on 21 October.
Meanwhile, the Supplementary Supply (2026) Bill, 2026 will be tabled by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, whereas the Sarawak State Library (Amendment) Bill, 2026 will be tabled by Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.
In the meantime, the Public Holidays (Amendment) Bill, 2026 will be tabled by Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations), Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
In a related development, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia noted that a total of 336 questions encompassing oral and written queries have been received from 40 Members of the Legislative Assembly.
According to him, out of the total, 264 questions require oral answers submitted by 37 Members, while 72 are written questions submitted by 13 Members.
He added that the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) received the highest number of queries, with 36 questions submitted.
Also present at the meeting were Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, members of the Sarawak Cabinet, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Cabinet Ministers, as well as Members of the Legislative Assembly. — UKASnews
