KUCHING: Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, received two courtesy calls at his official residence here on Wednesday.
The first visit was led by the French Ambassador to Malaysia, Marc Abensour, who came to discuss efforts to strengthen cooperation in several strategic sectors.
Among the matters discussed were Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the maritime and aviation industries, renewable energy, the oil and gas industry encompassing both upstream and downstream activities, as well as carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) technology.
Also present at the meeting was the wife of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The French delegation joining the visit included Defence Attaché Colonel Stefan Stefancic, Deputy Economic Counsellor Bouthaina Harfi, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Action Thierry d’Anna, and Trade Counsellor Jean-François Ambrosio.
Meanwhile, the second courtesy call was led by the new Sarawak Mufti, Datu Khalidi Ibrahim.
The visit aims to express gratitude for the Sarawak Governor's consent to appoint him as the state's new Mufti.
During the meeting, he also took the opportunity to seek the advice and views of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi regarding the operations and strengthening of the fatwa institution in the state. - UKASnews
